Summer Academy Volunteering

During the 2017 summer break, I volunteered as a counselor at the Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) summer academy, organized by the University of Toronto. This program provides pre-engineering students the opportunity for advanced study in engineering technology, business, and science disciplines. My role was to support the classroom instructors with providing instructional assistance and support, chaperoning students, organizing course supplies, managing student registration, and facilitating activities and lecture discussions.

The courses I helped teach include Strategies for Pollutant Reduction, Vehicle Dynamics and Control, and Microfluidics. Through this experience, I learned to become more efficient with logistics, learned strong leadership skills, and taught some of the concepts I learned in school. Moreover, it encouraged me to become more active, communicative, and contributing towards the growth of the STEM field.
